A perfect time-saver for hard working parents. Make a double or triple dose of this recipe and keep it in your freezer. Defrost and prepare in no time spaghetti Bolognese, pasta casserole, Shepherd’s Pie with Potato Crust, home made beef tacos, Italian lasagna, greek "giouvetsi" with orzo....the list of choices is really endless. There is no need to use canned cooked ground beef or dry ground beef stored in pouches. Let's try to minimise the preservatives and the additives we put in our children's stomach. Use real ingredients and elevate the taste of your meals.
Ready in: 20 minutes (using a pressure cooker) or 40-50 min
Portion: 4 Family

Ingredients
500 gr. (1.1 lb) ground beef
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 can (400gr) chopped tomatoes or 4 juicy tomatoes (blended)
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cloves garlic
1 cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
1/2 bunch parsley (0.5 cup) (finely chopped)
1 cup hot water
salt, pepper
4 tablespoons olive oil
How to do it
Place a deep nonstick pan or a pot over high heat and let it get very hot.
Add the olive oil and sauté the ground beef until it changes colour. Make sure that it doesn't form any lumps.
Add the onion and the cloves of garlic (all finely chopped) and sauté together with the ground beef for 2 minutes more.
Add the chopped tomatoes or the blended tomatoes with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Then the cinnamon stick, the bay leaf, the parsley and 1 cup hot water.
Season with salt and pepper and stir well.
Lower the heat (from 9 to 3 at my electric stove), and let it simmer until most of the liquids are absorbed (about 40'). If you use your pressure cooker, you need only 20 minutes. But you do not need to add the hot water in the pot.
