How to check the purity of honey at Home

Honey is our family medicine. I give a teaspoon to my kids when they suffer cough, especially during nighttime that cough affects their sleep. It acts as a soothing agent on the inflamed mucus membrane and irritation that causes cough.

My Iranian friend Sara, currently living in Germany, visited us this summer on holidays and stayed at Chalkidiki-Northern Greece, where besides its amazing beaches, you can find many beekeepers selling their honey. She asked me how could someone tell that the honey he/she bought is pure? Good question, cause if you want to enjoy most of the benefits derived from honey, you should definitely consider its purity.

So, we found and asked Mrs. Maria, a beekeeper that owns 100 bee cells in Chalkidiki. She told us, how we can check the purity of honey at home. Check this out:

1. Fill a glass with water.

2. Add one tablespoon of honey into the glass.

3. Adulterated or artificial honey will dissolve in water and you will see it around the glass.

4. Pure honey on the other hand will settle right at the bottom of your glass.
