Dried Pomegranate Seeds

Dried Pomegranate Seeds Anardana

While I was on holidays at the Porto Heli area of Peloponnese, I found a food festival promoting local products, where a guy was selling jars with dried organic pomegranate seeds. That was a surprise since I have never tasted something like that before.

I took the chance to try some. They have a mildly fruity, sweet and sour flavor. I immediately pictured myself replacing raisins in sweet breads, cranberries in cookies or muffins and goji berries in salads with dried pomegranate seeds.

Pomegranates are known to be rich in vitamin C (contain 48 percent of the recommended daily vitamin C intake), potassium, and fiber. And the majority of that fiber is found guess where? In the white seeds hiding beneath the pockets of juice.

Besides sprinkling them over salads or vegetable dishes, try to add them on cereals paired with fresh milk, or a cup of Greek yogurt.
